planting beans

Hello all! I hope you can help me. I'm at the point in King's quest 1 where I'm supposed to plant the beans in the dark soil next to the flowers. But when I try to put them in the ground I get this message: "You can't plant them there, they need special soil" What am I doing wrong???

Plant them on the clover patch to the north of Rumplestiltskin, or on the flowers to the east (I think) of Rumplstiltskin.
