I'm back, after a semi-retirement. (so much for half an hour and a coffee) i decided that after having dreams of vampires, bats, rings, dwarves, wolves....well, it was enough. But I'm back, also with more thoughtless questions. how do i pay the boatman?? i used the broach for the emerald, and the earings for donations (I ought not have been so generous) now what?<br><br>thanks! <p></p><i></i>

Those two sapphire jewels are functionally identical; you can always use one when you can use the other. For the optimal solution, you wouldn't give either one as donation, but you also wouldn't use it as payment here. Traditionally, when you want a dead being with a scythe to bring you across a poisonous body of water, you give coins. You might have missed these, but if you did, you can re-enter the building where they're found. <p></p><i></i>
