KQ2 won't start

#1 Post by JayC TKX » Tue Nov 04, 2003 12:53 am

I'm running KQ2 ver 2.0 res 320x with music and speech packs. The game ran fine until around last week. First, when I tried to run the game straight up with launcher or directly, sometimes it would just lock up and I get a constant clicking sound. So I went into the options menu and started running the game via the save and run option. This worked for a little bit, but now it does the same thing as when I used the launcher or direct method with the clicking and so forth. I'm not sure what to do. I have a feeling it has something to do with the sound (given the clicking). Thanks.

Do you know your system specifications? If you try to run the game in 640x400, you'll need a system that's a lot faster than the minimum listed on the download page.
Pidgeot
-----
Every error you find is the last one.
Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... eot1404 at: 11/3/03 7:21 pm

I have a PIII 933mhz, 512 ram, laptop, so I think it should be ok. I'm running 320x200. For sound specs, I have Default WaveOut Device and Win32 MIDI Mapper.

Try installing the latest version of DirectX. That *might* help.

Also, if you're running in windowed mode, consider fullscreen. And in you're running in fullscreen, consider windowed mode.
If you find 320x200 windowed mode too small, you may want to try running in 640x400 windowed, though performance will most likely decrease a lot.
Pidgeot
-----
Every error you find is the last one.

Sounds

#5 Post by JayC TKX » Sun Nov 09, 2003 1:25 am

I disabled the speech and music packs, and the game worked just fine. I then enabled the speech pack and disabled only the music pack, and the game still worked fine. However, when the music pack was enabled, it reverted back to its non-starting ways. Any reason for this?

Have you tried KQ1VGA? If you haven't, try playing an Ogg Vorbis file on your computer (Winamp can play them). Do either of these things result in a similar problem?
Pidgeot
-----
Every error you find is the last one.
