Hi,
was wandering if there is another free engine or studio that do the same thing as AGS do but improve some of its weaknesses.
I would like AGS to be portable (development tool and games) on other OS, faster and with a larger available resolution...
maybe an open source project...
Thanks,
Decoy

Open ending ?
7. RESOLUTION; everything comes to a close; tie up your loose ends, show your hero in the new status quo he/she's in, wrap everything up in a nice little bow (unless you're leaving stuff open for sequels); THE END Just a comment : I'm sick of unfinished stories... every single episode of every show...

Story structure
While I was writing, I saw an article that describe the form of a story. Beginning, Middle, Climax and resolution. (only the principal) However, it is a statement made by Aristote way back then... when there was only storytelling in books, chants and dramatics plays. I was wondering if there is a mo...

Game completion
Of course... no body want a low quality game finished "just in time for Christmas"... when actually it would have required 2 more years.

A game can never be done...
There always more bugs to patch, finer art to incorporate, more level to design, more feature to add...
You have to draw a line or people will keep asking you "when is it done?" until the end of time.

I think that Sierra KQ3's team were pretty proud of the count down feature. They used it a lot...But it really messed with the game structure.

IA
In an ideal world I would like all the KQ games with a remake possibility (KQ3-KQ4-MOE) to be done by AGDI. LOL!.. as a member of IA, that hurts my tiny evil little heart. :lol Honestly though, we learned a lot from making Kq3, and it had its number of flaws, but we'll get much better with age. Who...

Writing a game
Hi,
I want to write an adventure game but I lack in some basic game aspect. One of those is the scenario, plot and story.
I wrote a lot on this subject but my work seem drafty and I would like some pointers on writing a good game plot/scenario.
Thanks,
DM

I think an adventure game like the KQ serie could be great with 3d room and Static Camera because with a free camera you waste so much time controlling the character. Better have a static camera and click on the hot spot for interaction. What I'm not certain of is what this thread is about???? Do yo...

Re: Adventure Game
Ah yes I forgot about those, but you have to admit that the bulk of adventure games are point and click. And if you just throw the command line games into my post then its pretty much perfect. Yeah point and click was the golden age... there was so many games in the early 90s... Sierra, Lucas Art a...

Adventure Game
"Adventure games" are puzzle and riddle oriented games usually without combat and mostly point and click, while newer forays into the genre have ditched the point and click interface but it is still an importent part of the genre. Console gamers use the term "adventure games" in...

Adventure Game
Yeah DOSBOX.. it works fine for me. Today we have tons of games that incorporate the Adventure Genre as part of their normal game play, and other games have had that for a while. Final Fantasy is an RPG but we could certaintle argue its also an adventure game, and so on with many RPG titles, and ...

I wrote what has to be some 40% of the entire Quest for Glory VGA game in Java (AWT) from scratch a few years ago. Took me about two months of dedicated work to do that, and that's including the time it took to rip the graphics from the engine. Given another two months, I think I could have finishe...

Adventure Game
Roberta William pointed that out when she was on MOE team. She said that the Adventure game would never die but would live on in different form. Many games have Adventure elements today but pure Adventure is rarer. MOE was not exactly that form because it tried to surf on the wave caused by Diablo h...

MOE
I don't really like the idea of having a MOE remade as a QFG. We all know how a KQ should be : puzzle, riddle and headhaches ;) I think a MOE pretending to be a KQ should at least avoid violence and combat as possible or leave it for the more dramatic moment (like in KQ6 for instance). I would even...

KQ MOE
I do agree with most of youre statement. I don't want to virtually translate the game into an Adventure fashion. I would want it to be a completely new game with some basic simillarities like the mask as the main quest item, Connor as protagonist and Lucreto as vilain. It would be like pressing the ...

KQ MOE
Hi, I was wandering around and I saw the comment on a KQMOE remake. It's been a year or so that I tried to rethink MOE as a classic Adventure Game. I found it really challenging just for the story side because the original game is designed as an Adventure hack and slash. I think, major plots improve...
