Some call MP a FPS.
Some call Zelda an RPG.
To each their own. I can't comment on MP cause I haven't played yet. I think that the Zelda games are Action/Adventure though. (Cross in Platformer and RPG for AOL)

I've played Metroid Prime before, and although it handles like it's an FPS (seeing as though most of the game is from a first-person perspective, and you mostly use that perspective to attack with), it does have adventure and platform elements.

I'd dare say it could be classified as a first-person action-adventure game.

Which FPS doesn't have adventure and platform elements?

I don't see why this wouldn't run on the DS.

Also, I remember on a forum Brian Provinciano being asked if he would release an SCI interpreter for the GBA.  He said no, but only because the screen resolution was too low.

Who knows?  We may someday be able to run VGA Sierra games on a DS, using the little touchscreen for a mouse.
There's no reason why the PSP couldnt play those games. I'll be surprised if there isnt a GBA emulator out sometime for the PSP.

Plus not too sure what the specs are for the DS but the PSP could probably handle a emulator of the DS apart from the fact it couldnt emulate hardware like the touch screen lol.

There is already a DS emulator on the way for PC so it would just need to be ported.

Spikey from the screenshots I've seen of MP I would say it was an FPS.

And it is true that the PS2 has the weakest graphics of the three but when developers spend time making games it doesnt seem to show, just look at Metal Gear Solid 3 etc

Of course, I won't say MP isn't unique. Else it would never have been Game of the Year 2002.

And just how are you going to fit two screens on just one, considering the limited space?  :rolleyes

Besides, a DS emulator without a touchscreen feature is useless, really.

I did say there wouldnt be a point as it couldnt emulate the touchscreen (if you read my post).

My point was that technically the PSP could probably emulate the DS. I'm not sure though as it depends on the DS CPU speed etc.

They'll probably subsistute the mouse. Lame! :rolleyes

Nah.  PSP will probably be able to emulate the GBA, but not the DS unless their architectures are very similar.  I've heard that, on average, a system needs to be at least three times as powerful as the system it's emulating.  I've tried Super Nintendo emulators for Dreamcast and for either the PS1 or the PS2 (I forget which,) and they were super choppy and slow.

Even if it was fast enough, the touch screen would be tricky, as you say.

I've also heard that the PSP will be very well protected against 3rd party hacks and such, but we'll see if that's true in a few months when people really start trying.

I cant wait to see what happens when some hackers get their hands on the PSP!! Especially with the Memory stick the PSP uses, I bet you'll be able to boot full games from that!!

It would be cool if someone made a Snes/Megadrive Em for the PSP, mobile classics!!!

Just got here Spikes, and since you asked for me by name, I'll chime in with my opinion.

Is Metroid Prime JUST an FPS?

No.

Does it contain FPS elements?

Yes.

Honestly, I think a "pure" FPS could never match the essence of the 2-D Metroid games; what Retro Studios created is far more explorative and deep than any simple "point-and-shoot" game.  As far as I'm concerned, applying the term FPS to either Prime or Echoes is incomplete; they're far more than that.  I put them in the same class as the Zelda games, Deus Ex, System Shock, and Anachronox - cross-genre games that contain elements from multiple types (everything from RPG to adventure to FPS to strategy).

Basically, it's a game that cannot be explained; it must be experienced. ;)

ALL HAIL SAMUS ARAN!

Now go play Metroid Fusion. :D

I'm so drunk. Yesterday got my butt kicked by Meta Ridley on hard mode in Metroid Prime. So hard. I hate him.

that picture is in IGN to too it's just to show what it loks like disassembled. Anyways I think DS will win in the console war as not only is it cheaper but  the PSP won't come out untill AFTER Christmas. I was a t zellers the other day and the DS made the SP go down to 89.99 CAN a mother comes in and buys 2 for christmas. Here i am thinking dish out 40 more and BAM DS is there. I can't stand it when Zellers or whoever makes parents buy a lot of crap like that. To me it's the same as conning someone. Back on track though the DS sold more in the first day then GBA (record holder) did in a week! and I'm sure that number will go way up considering there were only 4 games at zellers (maybe 8 at our overpriced EB)

P.S I hate IGN and EB is not on my list of faves unless i find something rare HELLO Broken Sword for 15.95

We've been over this already, we'll just have to see who wins this new console war and enjoy the battles.

There's no use us fighting each other like fanboys, there's plenty of newbies doing that elsewhere.

While my brother and I progress in X-men Legends, I would like to advise people who plan on buying it to have at least two people available to play it. It's really shitty to play by yourself with three AI controlled characters. The game is really hard to get through on your own. Most fun guaranteed is if you have four manual players.

Skyshark wrote:I've also heard that Australian PS2 online gamers will be receiving an updated Central Station disc that will allow for games to played against the Europeans. :D On the other hand, there's been somewhat of a delay in them actually the continent (was supposed to be out by the end of November and I've heard that they haven't reached SCEA yet to be distributed). So, you guys never know, I could be popping up on a Euro server at some point in the future.
Hey Skyshark, I played Killzone online this afternoon and its really good fun.

It always surprises me that playing an identical game against other humans is somehow always better than the CPU lol

Any I did notice that on the main screen for online play it has a log in for Euro Central Station users and a log in for Australian/NZ Central Station users (its a game published by SCEE so you have to use your Central Station ID). But I cant remember if there was a "room" for Aussie's and Euro players to play in.

I'll have to have a look next time I play online! But it would be cool if we could play online deathmatch together!!

If thats possible then I think $ony has finally nailed this online play thingy!

EDIT: Just played online again and it looks as though it would be possible, we should schedule a time, maybe at the weekend and have a 1 on 1 Deathmatch!!

Hit me back!

Cool. Doesnt' look like anything is happening this weekend on my end, so I might hire it out again (or buy it), and have a go maybe on Saturday night my time, which is roughly Saturday afternoon on your end.

Still up for it (just went up to the video shop and hired it out). I'll be having tea in a while, so how does about an hour or hour and a half from now sound?

Yea that sounds like a plan. I'm going to the Supermarket in a little bit to get some digital photos developed but I should easily be back in less than an hour and a half's time.

I'll post/message you when I'm back and free to play!

After all this I hope we can actually play in the same game lol

P.S. I have only played Killzone a couple of times so you'll probably kick my ass! (Unlike Broomie he will get HIS ass kicked all over the WWE ring when he finally rents Smackdown Vs Raw!)

(Unlikely, that is if the controls are basically the same as HCTP, if not yes you probably will kick my ass all over the ring)

I went Christmas shopping yesterday might I add, and because I was on a tight budget I couldn't spend alot, also spending most of the money on pizzas and fags. I was going to buy Leisure Suit Larry: MCL for £20, it was deal of the week and you could buy anything in the store, like the manual which was priced 99p, and you could buy MCL for £20 instead of £40. Yet I couldn't bloody buy it as it was an 18 and I just about look 15. So instead I bought something recommended by one of the members here, well was a member, "Once upon a time in Mexico." My brother I got "Green Day, American Idiot", for my dad "The Last Samurai" and last but not least, at the moment, nothing for my mum. Since I originally got her Pheonix Nights, something she loves, yet she already bought that for me, and I've only gone and lost the reciept aswell so my mother remains presentless. We'll sort that out. So I basically bought CD's for everyone. Nice.

I'm having connection issues with the DNAS system at the moment (getting a 105 error). Still trying to get in.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm in! I've logged onto the Euro server (waiting in the lobby) and my username is Skyshark. I'm creating a game called AGDI and the password will be "Graham".
