#1 Post by paratroopa » Sat Jan 01, 2005 12:59 am

My Favorite Video game series was on a lot of devices. It is really old and still really famous. None other than The Super Mario series!

I have lots of favorites, but Kirby is probably at the top at the list. :)

Like Jafar, I have many game series I like a lot. But if I have to choose one, the result should be obvious if you look at my username/avatar. :p

For video games, Zelda then Metroid. For PC, Half-Life. That's in terms of quality of story not type of game...otherwise I'd pick Space Quest ;).

Metal Gear On the Nintendo back in the day.

Final Fantasy on the Super NES.

Resident Evil and Silent Hill tied on the PS1

PS2 would have to be...GTA SA

Xbox Chronicles of Riddick

and PC...Battlefield 1942!

PC: Commander Keen (though I haven't played it for a long time) and lot's of Space Quest lately. I'm also playing some of the classic Doom games again.

GameBoy: I always liked something about the Pokemon games. The more recent installments suck pretty badly, the originals were pretty good. For the rest, I don't play much GameBoy games.

Nintendo: Super Mario Bros 3. Man, did I play that game a LOT!!!

Amiga: I have many great classic here, but I've certainly spent more time on The Chaos Engine than ANY other game. I used to play that for HOURS on end. Just recently got back to it, still rocks!

I don't really play much on the newer consoles (PS/XBOX/GC etc.), I prefer sticking with my PC. I also hate the controls... Yuck. Can't get used to them.

Well I think everyone knows my favorite series is Metal gear solid even though I don't have a PS2. I'm almost done Snake Eater because my friend forgot it here on new years. I could put them in order for how muc I like them story wise

MGS1: It had this original feel to it and delivered something no other game could come close to. Ever since I played this game I've been looking for other conspiracy or stealth games (XIII was the only other game I played that came close!)

MGS2 SoL: well it is parralel to the MGS1 story in a lot of ways and I always like the originals better then the copies. however this game did add to it and have different things to offer MGS1 comes higher up probably because I played it first

MGS3 SE: this game's story (what I've seen which is pretty close to all but the hopefully climactic ending) is a lot like the end of The Lord Of the Rings 3 except it doesn't fade out and come back when you think it's over 7 or 8 times. The game is basically here because we wanted more Hideo Kojima and to fill in all possible loop holes while retaining it's same basic follow through. In this game you play as big boss in 1964 who is the original clone to the hero of the other 2 games. They have the same voice (David Hayter, producer of Xmen) and use the same lines and expressions. The game keeps it's tactical humour by bringing back an old wise man from it's predocessor as a young hot head who get's repeatedly humiuliated by you so you can see how he became who he is.

This game sheds more light on romance then the other 2 but at some parts it just get's annoying. There is a feature in the cut scenes that got added in this game along with other things like throat slitting and taking hostages where you see through the eyes of Big Boss. With this new feature you get to see how much of a perv your heros daddy was because almost everytime you do it you're staring into the biggest pair of polygon knockers complete with over the top (not literally mind you) cleavage.

This title feels as if the story it had to do itself was second to these throw backs and cliches which to me reminds me a little bit of a classic I like to call Monkey Island for example
Guybrush: What is the secret of monkey island?
Lechuck: If I told ye I'd have to kill ya.
Guybrush: you don't know do you?
Lechuck: ar, no

just proving that they threw the current story out to make way for whatever else like laughs or in this case prologing.

remembering that there is still a  list to complete for stories MG on the MSX or NES had the worst story simply because ... well it had no story really but atleast it tried and started a great era. I haven't played MG2 or Ghost babe and VR Missions doesn't count.

well it seems like most people chose atleast 2 for their favorite series and my 2nd would have to be Final Fantasy I mean cmon I had a whole thread about it. MGS and FF are always jumping around the podium it depends what I've been playing lately but sadly both are mainly Sony titles (well FF used to be) and not owning the system itself is rather annoying when you see a great game pass you by and there is nothing you can do about it but marvel in your magazines.

Well that was my longest post ever so I'd like to wrap this up now .... good bye

Snake Eater is basically a prequel. Alot of stuff is explained...but there is still more room for explaining...but little time.

Konami has already confirmed another Metal Gear game is being made, it will most likely appear on PS3 though.

It wont be a Metal Gear Solid game but a Metal Gear game. (So no Snake.)

Are you perhaps thinking of Metal Gear Acid for the PSP?

And if you check here, you'll that it is still Solid Snake.
