Converting multiple cds into a dvd...

#1 Post by Lucifiel » Wed Apr 06, 2005 5:01 am

I've a friend who owns a rather old game(now out of print). Problem is, it has a lot of cds and he wants to join them into a dvd. Is there any tutorial for that?

Well... it all depends on the game. Some can't be combined into a single disk. There is one thing he could do though. Firstly, create an image of each of the CDs using a CD burning program like Nero (instead of telling it to burn to a CD, you tell it to write an image to the hard drive. As long as you don't put a blank CD in then you don't have to worry about accidently doing the wrong thing and wasting a CD).

Then, burn all the images as normal files onto a DVD. Then you can use Virtual Daemon ( http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/index.php ) to make fake CD drives using the images on the DVD. So you'll only need to have the DVD in the drive. No CD swapping.

Or, you could just do what I do and have images of all the CDs on your hard drive and run them from there (instead of burning to DVD). So no disk swapping even when switching to a different game. Of course, that can take up a lot of hard drive space
