Love the backgrounds; ain't too crazy about the Al Emmo sprite, actually.

Of course. They arent 3D backgrounds though just sprites.

Perhaps; I just don't like the 3-D look of him, though I love his design. I understand why they 3D modled him, for time reasons perhaps - maybe some pixel editing of the actual frames of animation would help get rid of that "rendered" look I loathe.

Actually, the reason was most likely because 3D animations are often a lot smoother than 2D animations. In 320x200, you can get away with a lot animation wise without the player seeing things skipping. As resolution increases, more frames are required to keep animations smooth.

He probably means that it would be 4 times the work (if 640x480... even more for 800x600)

And he thinks I dont know that? A friend of mine does VGS-like screen at a very large resolution and it ends up looking a thousand times better than your average 320x200 game.

Alias... I don't think he was laughing at you.
It was probably the thought of creating QfG2VGA in hi-res. Scary thought indeed.

QFG2VGA in hi-res...would be interesting, although a pain to work on. A 640x400-game with lots of animation like Al Emmo is already so large that it takes AGS about 20 minutes to load the project and about 10 minutes to save/compile it. (not quicksave)
If QFG2VGA would be hi-res too, it'd be about 1.5 gig uncompressed at least. (due to the large amount of animations in there)

Since they can't sell it on Cd's Why not then try to give it out as a special bonus with a hotdogs's package wich are sold in all foodmarket or let it be included on some magazines or books. I mean lots of computer magazine has always included free demo cd as a special bonus gift so I think they should try it out to give out free cd's on something like that. At least that is what I am going to do when my game will be compleated. But of course since my game will have original story I think I ask for some % of it. I just can't afford to pay for website for my 15 mb game. And well if it will be bigger than that. I can never host it up on the Internet in the future.
Of course I can ask Angelus about hosting my game but I am not sure if he really can do it for me. I just don't want to put big pressure on him.

VGA is, per definition, not high-res. If you want 256 colours, you're limited to 320x200. So saying you want a "hi-res VGA game" would be like saying you want a "colourful monochrome game." I thought the irony of that statement was clear enough.

As did I; most didn't need clarification on that one. It was, perhaps to say, an oxymoron.

I think the proper term would be Super VGA Game, since VGA, by definition, means 320x200 or 320x240 only.

Iirc, there was a whole thread, an interesting one, about "VGA" and "SVGA" a long while ago. It would be nice if someone could fish it.

this is the problem i found with my project. i was trying to design it at 640x480 however im seeing that AGS isnt structured well enough for it. ill just rescale everything i do down to 320x240 to fit the usual VGA style

Thanks for great feedback on the screenshots everyone!

It will be just like the old KQ games in terms of gameplay since it'll be a screen-to-screen adventure game, but at the same time it won't be like any of the previous KQ games because it's 3D.
It's also different from Mask of Eternity which was a 3D
action-adventure game. KQIX is a 3D screen-to-screen 3rd person adventure game.

Regardless, I think it will be very cool!
