ya, I almost had SOAL beat on Dreamcast back in the day but lost interest. After hearing the GC version was "All new" I went and bought it as soon as the price was reasonable. (not long) However the games are almost exactly the same. They even look the same. I beat it just for the sake of beating it though.
Re: The Gamers Thread: The PSP Cometh (to Europe)
No Angelus, unfortunately, I have not seen or heard anything for a sequel to Eternal Darkness. It would be killer if they did, well in my opinion anyway. Another thing, best way to play the game is to always have your sanity meter about halfway or lower. The way the game can mess with you is a pretty cool innovation.
Edit: If I do happen upon any actual information regarding a sequel, I'll leave a post or PM you or something.

If you liked Eternal Darkness, look out for the long-promised Call of Cthulhu game! It's shaping up to be something quite worthwhile and just damn awesome.

UPDATE: The UK PSP launch did break the DS record for fastest selling console launch!!!
In other news GTA: Liberty City Stories website has launched and features screens and the first trailer of the game!!
This is going to be THE killer ap for the PSP and seriously will blow the DS out of the water. Its basically a full normal GTA game on the PSP!! What more could a gamer want!

I never did play the remake of Metal Gear Solid, heard a lot of mixed reviews on it, so I wasn't too sure on whether to play it or not. As for Silicon Knights there next game they are working on is called:
Too Human
and this is their little description on it from the site:
The Too Human Trilogy
The Too Human trilogy will immerse players into vast, expansive worlds where cybernetic gods and machine giants clash in epic battles for supremacy.
That's all it says about it, also the website for them is http://www.siliconknights.com/

well graphic wise the game looks amazing, but also with the upgraded graphics I had heard that some of the story lost its original meaning. Whether or not that is actually true, I do not know. As for the disc swapping, that doesn't bother me in the least. Since in the Resident Evil remake, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 4 all for Gamecube are 2 disc games, I didn't have a problem in the least.

well ok here's what was bad about the remake without giving too much away.
Ninja's lines. They chnaged his voice because before he sounded exactly the same as the DARPA chief did. But he says his lines faster and they don't sound as classsic as they did the first time.
both Fight Scenes between Ninja and Snake are way overdone to the point when the ninja actually cuts a bullet in half while it's being shot at him. Sometimes it was just rediculous but if you could see the awesome in it or if you enjoyed the matrix at all you'd prefer these scenes.
On the other side of the coin.
Fight between Solid and Liquid at the end cutscene just kicks ass. it's not 2 big blocky guys throwing blocky hands like school kids anymore it looks like a street fight which is exactly what it was.
All the lines were completly redone and slightly changed to not sound so retarted.
Snake:How do i get in?
Colonel: use the pod
S: pod?
C: yes the pod (explains)
S: ok but how do I get in?"
C:use the ventilation system on the second floor
S: 2nd floor venitaltion system?
C: Yes, after you get in there use the ladder---
S: Ladder?
C:yes the ladder to go dow--
S: Down?
C: Ok Snake you're really pissing me off.
they took a lot of that out unless it was something that you as the player would have no idea about.
Also all the characters looks are redone and look way cooler.
Well I'm just ranting about it cause it's my favorite game. I really do think it's better then the original if you can get past those 2 crazy scenes. The game makes more sense now. Also when it came out it was only 50 here (the usual game is 70$ in Canada) so it's probably ultra cheap by now.

Hey, thats ok, rant away! Hehe
What about getting the invisibility suit like in the original game? Did they take that out? I remember before the game was released that they mentioned they might not have been able to keep that feature due to the disc size or something along the lines of that.
And if they had kept lines of text like that in, that would have rather stupid on their part... Use the Ladder? To go down? lol a 5 year old would be able to understand that without it having to be explained to them (at least I would think).

Btw if you guys didnt know already my new sig is screenshots from the new game Enter the Matrix: Path of Neo it looks amazing!!
Basically you play the trilogy from Neo's point of view and you can do everything he can including flying!
Just look at the screenshot of the fight between Neo and the 1000 Agent Smith's! Thats real and on PS2! They actually got 2000 Agent Smith's on screen at once!
The programmers at Shiny have also done a theoritical impossibilty on the PS2 which is too achieve "normal mapping"!!
I can't wait till November!!

hehe That actually sounds pretty cool. It almost reminds me of Superman for some reason or other.Angelus3K wrote:Basically you play the trilogy from Neo's point of view and you can do everything he can including flying!
Edit: Make that Superman with guns actually.
I'm kind of lost by what you mean by this. There is no such thing as "normal mapping"? Is there a link you could post that I may go and read about it for myself??Angelus3K wrote:The programmers at Shiny have also done a theoritical impossibilty on the PS2 which is too achieve "normal mapping"!!
Edit: Ahh ok, I found the preview for it on Gamespot.

Path of Neo is for PC, PS2 and Xbox.
Normal Mapping is explained by your friend and mine (and Pidgeot's too) Wikipedia
EDIT: Just because you haven't heard of something, doesnt mean it doesnt exist ;)

I just happened to watch the trailer for the game and I agree with you on how excellent it looks!! I just hope that these looks aren't decieving as they sometimes happen to be. You know what I mean, how some companies get you all hyped up just to find out the game wasn't even worth half the price they were asking. On the other hand, it does look quite promising. Will probably end up getting the PC version if I got any extra cash to spend.

Hopefully the in-game footage being shown there isnt lying and lets hope the controls are simple and intuitive!
There are some positive things we can say about the development though;
* The game has been in development for over 2 years
* Doesnt have a strict movie tie in deadline this time
* Hopefully learned from the mistakes of the first Enter the Matrix
* Must have some really talented programmers to get over 2000 animated Agent Smith's onscreen WITH normal mapping too (as I said a first for the PS2)
So I'm optomistic about this one lol
EDIT: Does anyone have Smackdown Vs Raw for PS2 and would like to battle me online? (Apart from Broomie who is defeated by default for not being available for over a year
)

Well I have just completed Resident Evil 4 (Did I mention I just got it? oops) It may be Sunday night but I didn't have a date and I had an all White Stripes mix tape so it's not like there's anything else I coulda done today. Also my internet was knocked offline cause my brother was having a LAN party. (F***ING NERDS)
Anywho for those who have played it I'll post my stats I got at the end of my first play through
Hit Ratio: 66%
Enemies killed: 944
Number of times killed: 71 (I never give up)
Time: 18 Hours, 46 Minutes, 29 Seconds
I was extremely dissapointed by the end boss and the story wasn't explained very well cause it really relied heavily on playing the prequels so I might just do that. Only thing is I know the previous games have fixed camera angles and ammo problems so I'm kinda leaning away from them. Although if I find that Resident Evil 0&1 bundle on GC for a good price I'll probably get it.
Anyways I was looking this game up and apparently there's a lot of Comparison between Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid 1. Being a huge MGS fanboy all I say on the subject is HAHAHA MORONS!
when I played through the game I dind't notice a single similarity but here's a couple I got thinking too after it was pointed out
Ashley is like Meryl who's the annoying girl that follows you around.
(most complained about online) apparently the radio conversations in this game are ripping off Snakes Codec. WTF!? I really don't get this. First of all Leon had a radio and Snakes could only be heard by him so it could be used in tight spots.
one part of the game did remind me of the infamous "Tower B" just the way you had to run up a tower forever in this part and instead of a jammed elevator there was a jammed swith both needed to presws on in the game.
One quote by Saddler (boss of RE4 who was hilariously easy.) is the same as one by Snake. "Haven't you ever had to swat a bothersome fly?" Snake says " Sorry I'm late but I had to swat a bothersome fly" both of these quotes were said right after the character destroys a helicopter in flight.
I did catch on to some of the movie refrences though. All the handguns have a reference except for the "Handgun" and the "Blacktail" to my knowledge.
The Punisher was The Punisher's favorite gun from the comic book that punctured several people at a time.
Matilda was the name of the girl in the movie "Leon"
the others escape me right now. I do remember RE2 a bit and though it was funny that the new costume was Leons old one from RE2.
That's all I really have on that game. I'll keep you guys updated on my next nintendo conquest.
Edit: Angelus I do have Enter The Matrix and thought it was ok but what was wrong with it?
Edit II: The Guy Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes did have both the Bandana and Stealth Camoflauge although I did hear the same rumour awhile back.

well I was waiting till I didn't have to double post but I don't think anyone wants to read that last post. it was a dousy. Anyways just thought I'd mention (for Angelus) that I got Broken Sword II in the mail today and although the game maintains the wit of the first one I F***ING HATE ALL THE VOICES. Not just George either, all of them. Anyways I hope they were replaced in the third one and even if they weren't I geuss I'll play it.
BTW I'm now playing Resident Evil 4 for the second time and I think my time will be cut atleast in half. The first time I played the first metal gear it took 12 hours but my second game still took 8.

Re: The Gamers Thread: The PSP Cometh (to Europe)
You know, when I first got Resident Evil 4, I figured this could be a game with some replay potential. But after all the BS trying to unlock the Handcannon, I kinda gave up playing. I probably should pick it up again just for the hell of it. Did you happen to play the Mercenaries or Assignment Ada? Oh yeah, one of the guns you didn't mention was the Killer 7 which is used in the game Killer 7 of course.
I just loaded up my game and checked my stats.
Time: 18:19:00
Number of Times Killed: 0
Hit Ratio: Unsure
Enemies Killed: Unsure
For some reason, my Panasonic Gamecube really doesn't like to read the Resident Evil 4 Discs. All others usually load up the first time or within 3-4 times trying. Maybe I need a lens cleaner?

Was Broken Butterfly a reference from anything? It is better then the Killer 7 in My opinion. I was going to try Assignment Ada after I beat teh game twice and I wasn't sure whether to get the Mathilda or not because my blacktail is completly tuned.I'm on Chapter 4-2 so I'm almost done my second playthrough and I have about 5 hours. it really is a fun game. My brother beat it after renting it twice so I never would have played it if I didn't get it free.

How old is your Q? What error do you get when it tries to read a disc but fails? The Guy wrote:For some reason, my Panasonic Gamecube really doesn't like to read the Resident Evil 4 Discs. All others usually load up the first time or within 3-4 times trying. Maybe I need a lens cleaner?
It's known that Cubes will occasionally de-calibrate their lenses. It sounds like that *could* be the problem.

Yea after long use the Gamecube POT decreases it usually starts to decrease slightly after 10 mins of use.
If you've had it a few years then it may have gotten too low and will eventually burn out your laser.
You may have to do what I started last night which is adjust the POT of your laser with a multimeter so it can read media (read: disks) better.

There was a problem with early PS2 slim models where the laser would prematurely burn itself out. There is a fix available for it known as "sum0nes fix" or something similar but thats a 3rd party fix nothing official (it works but obvisouly it voids the warrenty).
On related news after lowering my GC's POT value I put it back together, switched it on the laser flicks up and down and says "No Disc" the disk doesnt even spin so sorry Broomie looks like the GC is gonna go to heaven unless I can get it fixed!
That puts Wind Waker and Eternal Darkness on hold for awhile :cry :cry

Re: The Gamers Thread: The PSP Cometh (to Europe)
Well to answer that, yes I've had my Gamecube at least 3 years now. What exacty is POT? I take it I should just look on Wikipedia for it. Another thing for those that don't know I have the hybrid Gamecube which you can see what it looks like here.Angelus3K wrote:Yea after long use the Gamecube POT decreases it usually starts to decrease slightly after 10 mins of use.

Click on the picture of it for a slightly bigger image and other views of it.
I have at times taken off the side panel to make sure the fan is clean and when looking at it the disc drive it is enclosed like that of a cd-rom drive, so I have no idea how I would go about and take it apart to adjust the POT value. If does come down to having to take apart my Gamecube, I could be in a bit of trouble.
To answer your question Pidgeot, it doesn't give me any error reading other then "No Disc". So all I have been doing is open and closing the disc tray multible times. Gets a bit irritating after having to do it with some games almost 20 times it seems. I really don't want it coming down to putting out more money on another Gamecube, so I guess I will take any risks necessary should it come to that too.Pidgeot wrote:How old is your Q?
