Rules anyone fallow them?
I see a few new posts about people looking for illegal games when its against the rules. I mean come on there on the page you go to before entering the forum the only thing AGDI didnt do is force you to read them I mean come on. Read the god darn rules.

Nice sentiment, but I still see the keyboard is an insurmountable foe for you.AsianMusicGuy wrote:I see a few new posts about people looking for illegal games when its agist the rules. i mean com on there on the page you go to before entering the forum the only thing agdi didnt do is force you to read them I mean come on. We get the occasional visitor who asks for these kinds of things no matter how clear we are on our policies. All that's left to do in such a case is point out the corresponding rule and take appropriate action if the warning is ignored.
I appreciate the sentiment and friendly pointing out rules to visitors unfamiliar with them is certainly something I'd encourage, but please try not to sound too much like a moderator.

OOh!
Oooh! Erpy has a halo! YAY!
Well, there's a difference between the following two lines:
"Nobody's gonna answer your request because the rules of this forum prohibit links to warez/abandonware."
"You're not allowed to ask for links to warez/abandonware on these forums. Keep this up and you may be banned. Read the rules here. (insert link)"
The first one is mainly informative. The second one is more scolding.
A long time ago, I was a regular at a forum where one of the other regulars had the habit of correcting people whenever they did something that went against the established rules & etiquette and she was actually more in the foreground with this than the actual mods. At some point, this started to annoy me, so I pointed out to her that it was better to leave these activities to the actual mods. The thread I posted that in was gone the next morning, but I learned more people shared my opinion and "ganged up" on her after my remark.
I've experienced that mod-like behavior (i.e: scolding or preaching about rules) by non-mods generally causes other visitors to get annoyed. That's generally why I prefer to be the one shouting to people about rules and why they should be followed.
But like I said, there's nothing wrong with informing new visitors about the way things work around here, as long as there's no lecturing involved.

Well
Well I THINK what he means is that your the members, but that's what we have REAL mods for. What purpose do they have if other people are doing their job? :) Just leave this to the AGDI mods!

Re: Rules anyone fallow them?
Well I suppose someone can't lend a helping hand. But it's mainly the moderators job. :D
