Hey! That's so awesome. Thank you! That wallpaper came out really well. I'm really happy with it.

Things are going pretty well with the book. No sales in the past few days, but Just Adventure+ agreed to review it, which is great, and wanted a copy to put into their Adventure Archive! I feel like a part of adventure gaming history now!

Also, a bookstore, Canada Books Online that sells independent books agreed to pick it up. Things are moving. The process is interesting, no matter what. It'll be interesting to see how Al Emmo does when it comes out, as a comparison for independent art/entertainment.

Hey! Deirdra Kiai over at AGS picked up a copy of my book, read it in a couple days and just posted a GREAT review on her blog! So awesome. Anyway, if you want to check it out, it's here:

http://www.deirdrakiai.com/2006/03/25/i ... ok-review/

She's also made her own Adventure Game and it's pretty damn good. You should try it out.

It's been a pretty good week!

I got another great review for Game Quest: http://www.musea.us/review60.html

And a local bookstore, and a bookstore in Chicago both agreed to sell my book. As an independent author, it's really hard to get into bookstores. The first bookstore wants me to do a book launch there and I got invited to do two panels on writing at a sci-fi/fantasy convention in Winnipeg this May. On top of that, it looks like I'll have two interviews with me coming out in New York zines in the next month or so! Holy. Not sure how all that happened, but it's pretty cool.

On the downside, I got a job Tuesday and between being hired and my first start day, Monday, the boss gave the job to a son of a friend. Feh! Oh well, I've got two other interviews.

Vildern, have you received Game Quest yet? I worry it's going to take forever to get there. I hope it arrives in good shape.

as soon as I get patched up and get a new job I'll be sure to donate my hard earned bacon to your hard worked novel. Can't wait. Also the Display picture/background goes over pretty well, thanks.

If I'm to make a guess, it's not there yet, given that it's not even *here* yet. You wouldn't happen to have any idea about how long shipping ought to take, would you?

(Of course, now that I've said this, there's a 90% probability it will arrive here tomorrow.)

It hasn't? Damn. The post office said 6-8 weeks for international delivery, which seems crazy long to me, but then the books I sent to Australia took only a week. It must differ from country to country. I'm really hoping they say 6-8 weeks just to cover their ass and most orders don't actually take that long.

Thanks for telling me, though. I'll look into it. Please do tell me when it arrives.

Great. I hope it arrives in good shape.

Quest for Glory Fan, thanks for the compliments! I'll save a copy for you. Good luck with the job hunt. Doing the same myself. It's a pain, isn't it?

Just to keep you updated, I haven't received it yet.

Given that the 8 weeks will have passed in a few days, it looks like you'll have to have a chat with the people at the post office.

I'll let you know if it happens to turn up within these next few days, but if it doesn't, then it looks like it's gone missing. :\

I just *knew* this would happen - the day after I bring up the long delivery time, it arrives. :p

I have a feeling you'll get it within a few days - with a little luck, it might even arrive before the end of the current week. :)

Hey AWESOME! I'm so happy. See, it's a good thing you harassed me about it, otherwise it might not have showed up! It was beneficial for me, too, because now I know, at least, how long is TOO long, and where to complain if it doesn't show up. I hope it arrived in decent condition? Sorry it took so long, either way.

Vildern, it's slow, but it has (so far) arrived in all the places I've sent it. They say 4-6 weeks for delivery. Usually it only takes 2 to 3 weeks, but there's been three or four instances now of them taking closer to 6. Anyway, please keep me updated if it doesn't arrive.

Just finished the book today - great story, and a nice little twist on the ending there :)

I did notice some small errors - really nothing major at all, and not even big enough for me to have noticed in the online part of the book, even though I usually catch those easily.

I don't know if you want to know them in a post here or if you'd prefer a PM, so I'll leave that for you to decide before I post them.

Wow! That's fast. I admit, I'm such a slow reader!

Yeah, if you remember some of the errors, please let me know about them (otherwise it's no help at all!) Pm is better than filling up the board with detail no one else cares about. In the unlikely (but I'm still holding out hope!) occasion that there's a reprint, it will be nice to have less mistakes.

I don't think there's many, but it is a 500 page novel, and I don't have paid professional proof-readers. But if you could tell me where the errors are, that would be super helpful!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the story! People's positive comments have really made this project worthwhile.

A PM is on it's way. We're dealing with 3 errors, and all of them very minor, so it's not a very big problem to remember what they are - although I can't remember the exact page and line they were on.

Listen!

I got the book today!!! :p Unfortunately it would be impossible for me to finish the book as fast as Pidgeot here did (you pidgeot!), as A) I read slowly and B) I've "It" by King to finish first.

I loved the signature :)

Hey cool! I'm really happy it arrived. It's kind of freaky that it takes so long, but they seem to arrive intact. The only one that seems to have gone astray is one to australia, so I'll have to follow up on that.

I hope you enjoy the book! Please tell your friends if you do. Thanks again for the order!! XD

I will tell you the truth. When I first read about this book, I thought it would be terrible. But I figured I'd download the first 5 chapter pdf file and check it out anyway.

Boy, was I wrong. I'm on chapter 13 on your site now and I can't stop reading it. I dig it a lot. Mostly I only read Stephen King books, but this is some good stuff.

I will definitely want a copy of this, I have no cash right now, but when I get some, I will definitely be ordering it. Great job.

Hey, glad you're enjoying it! Nice to know there's some interest in it out there. Actually, that's the biggest difficulty I've had in getting people to try this book. Convincing them that this book is worth reading is really tough. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's the game thing, or it just sounds 'wacky...' I dunno, but people seem afraid to try it. But I've had 99% positive reviews so far! Hopefully that will help me out.

As a funny example, I sent Game Quest into this independent bookstore in Chicago that, for an extra $5 does a write-up description of the book in their catalogue. Their description:
A certain brand of adventure gaming nerd will get giggles out of this.
Ouch! I would have been better off without a write-up! Worst $5 I ever spent!

Thanks for the comments and for trying it out! Glad to hear I can hold my own against Stephen King! ;)
