Quest For Glory 1 Skill building.
I'm replaying my game and I have a few questions about my hybrid. 1) Can I import directly to 3 without playing 2? and 2) Where are all the best places to level up skills some of mine just don't want to hit 100 ever.
Strength
Intelligence
Luck
Lock picks
Climbing
are the ones giving me a hard time, no matter how much I climb the healers tree or pick my nose I can't max them out and I also wonder if theres a quick way for the other three considering they're a lot slower than other stats.

I used to get my climbing stuck on like 96 and it'd never budge :S. I never figured out why. I have a theory maybe you need to wait a few days or something, wouldn't know tho.

I always found a good way of raising lockpicks was by picking all the barred doors in town repeatedly, and a good way to raise climbing was to continuously climb the brigand gate near the end.
Intelligence and luck I raised by practicing all my spells up to 100.
Although if you don't have magic, um...
Then you'd have to raise them along with strength by fighting. Using thrust and slash for strength, dodge and parry for intelligence and luck.
Another way to raise intelligence and luck might be to play Dag-Nab-It repeatedly.. Though not entirely sure on that one.
I've never had any problems with intelligence and luck, but as for strength.. I don't think there's any quick way in this game to raise that.
As for importing directly into QFG 3, just tested.. and yes you can. :)

I raised my five 100 skilled characters ready for QFG2VGA with the VGA version of QFG1 as I encountered some skill raising problem with my EGA version. So if some of the trick I give you don't work, it might be because you're using a different version.
Strength
A good way to raise Strength is to train with the weapon master in the castle and voluntary lose before beating him so he accept to train you the next day. Every training are easily 2 strength points, even when you've passed the 90 points barrier. However, I have no idea if you can reach a perfect 100 this way since I never use that method because it is a bit troublesome as you can only train once per day (so it's important to start early and train every days), you must make sure you lose (easy at the begining, more complicated when your skills are near the 100), it leave you completly drained in stamina (not very great early in the game), and it cost you money.
The long way is to raise it at the goblin camp, constantly thrust and slash. It is very long, but eventually it will reach 100. It is also complementary if your hybrid has magic, because you need a lot of money to buy all the magic potions required to raise your spells to 100 and the quickest way to earn money is at the goblin camp. So when you'll begin raising your magic spells, your strength should raise by itself while you are earning the money.
The best way would be to mix both techniques.
Intelligence
If you play a thief hybrid, a good way to raise intelligence is to pick nose rather than the town's doors, but I'm not sure it can raise to 100 this way. It also raise by itself while you train Dodge, Parry and Lockpicking. The best way remain to raise it while you're raising your spells to 100. If you have no magic skills, I can't really help you, but then again, I don't think 100 in intelligence has any use if you have no magic skill as it seems to only raise your maximum number of magic point.
Lockpicking
As Katalia noted, picking the doors in spielburg remain the best way to reach 100 as picking nose seems to reach a certain limit at some point. I think it may have something with the toolkit, because everytime I had to raise this skill, when I reached 90 in lockpicking, I robbed the old lady's and the Sheriff's houses, bought the toolkit, and from this very moment, lockpicking became really long and difficult to raise.
Climbing
100 points in Climbing can only be reached by climbing at the brigands' fortress gate since the town gate and the wall at Spielburg's castle stop raising after you reach a certain number.
Luck
Luck should reach 100 by itself by the time you raise Throwing, Lockpicking, Dodge and Parry to 100.
One thing that I noticed, since it will be impossible to create a hybrid Thief with all skills, and import it in QFG2VGA as a Fighter (Like you could do in the EGA version), the only way to make a perfect hybrid character with QFG2VGA will be to create a Fighter with Lockpicking, Stealth and Magic in QFG1.
When you'll import it in QFG2VGA, you won't have any climbing skills, but you'll be able to join the EOF, access the WIT, and do all thief's job with the levitate spell instead of climbing. Later in QFG3 or QFG4, you will get the opportunity to get Climbing skills.

I was just doing it because when I played 4 I noticed the default characters are way weaker than they would be if imported and thus the games are more tedious and therefore more boring. I also intend to get another copy of V if I can ever ever find one cheap but right now they're quite expensive. I still think Thief is the funnest class regardless of whether it's a hybrid or not.I figure the starting stats of 3 are only a little higher than what they would be if I played 2 and even then not by much and it's very easy to train in 3 as there are a lot of people to help you and things to do. On top of that I don't want to play 2 before the EGA comes out because it hurts my eyes.
