help whith the germs!!!!!!

I have all the germs but the little dwarf catch me, I now that I have to cut the road next to my leg but when I put the sword nothing happend!!! what do I do I have to use something else? please help I'm soo proach to the end help meeeeeeeeeeee

Wrap the gems in the cloth, toss them to the other side of the chasm and talk to the dwarf until you can convince him to toss you his knife.
