At last I've acquired my MicroSD card! I've already installed ScummVM which works swimmingly and Moonshell. I've encoded and successfully watched a couple videos and also loaded it with MP3s and I'm now using it as an alternative to an iPod. It's not perfect. The sound quality isn't the best and the volume isn't very high but it's pretty good for $20 instead of over $100 for an iPod!

Here is a video I took of ScummVM on the DS in action playing Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

Sweet!
I'd stick to your DS from now on, looks like the Wii is going to go downhill now its been hacked to play backup games!

My only problem is it doesn't play games like Full Throttle, The Dig, COMI, and Broken Sword 1 and 2 as the DS doesn't have enough RAM. I hope they find a way around this.

So, anyone else geeking out over the new Nintendo DSi coming out next year?
http://wiieveryday.blogspot.com/2008/10 ... -ds-i.html
It's slimmer than the DSlite, has 2 cameras (one on the inside and one on the outside), onboard memory, and SD Card slot, music player, web browser, and enhanced wi-fi (possibly bluetooth?). They did remove the GBA slot, though. But Nintendo has also announced that they are starting a new online store much like the Wii's WiiWare called DSWare and the currently named Wii points will be renamed to Nintendo Points and will be able to be used for both. Possibilities for game boy virtual console games? Who knows.

Heck, with the two screens, turning the DS sideways, and a simple divider to keep the fields of vision separate, they might even be able to bring back some Virtual Boy games...

Didn't get "Silent Hill Origins" (PS2) as a present, but I saw it in a store (first time I've seen it ever!) so I bought it immediately with half of the birthday money I got from my parents. I have almost 3 hours of in-game time. That sanatarium is a maze!
Also playing "Quest for Glory 3", but frankly I'm so bored with it. I don't know whether it's day 11 or 21, feels like I've been in that Simbani village forever. Went back to Tarna with the dispel potion ingredients, and now the apothecary guy tells me I have to come back another day! But it's morning, so what do I do to kill the time?
Also playing "Deleted: The Game", an ARG, but I haven't made any headway at all this week.

Resident Evil 5... looks to be... undoubtedly... the most epic game of the decade.

I simply cannot wait for this. I was really only a fan of RE4, didn't get into the previous 3 but I these trailers are too damned good to be true.

had to find this thread in the search function. Dear me! Broomie I was also a fan of RE4 but not the other ones and will definitely pre-order RE5 I don't care how racist it seems (it still isn't). Has anyone played Left 4 Dead? I was looking at it but the reviews seem so up and down I can't get a clear consensus.

Left 4 Dead is awesome. Buy it, multiplayer is so much fun.

Been there and done that on two previous systems. I love it, honestly I do, but a third is overkill. I'm done for now.Brainiac wrote:Chrono Trigger DS is out. Everyone go smash Lavos to bits once again.
Waiting on my 360 Friend to get Left 4 Dead, and I totally agree on RE5's awesomeness, especially if it really is Chris in the new game. Yeah I'm a nerd, I played 1 and 2 back in the day. Never got 3 or any of the Code, Zero etc etc titles but 4 was awesome!
I'm also excited to get my hands on Fable 2, hoping it will actually be more open then 1 (Seriously, for how much freedom you were SUPPOSED to have, it felt very restricted at times) and totally nerding out for Fallout 3! I didn't play the second one but LOVED the first.
Personally though, the single most exciting game for me right now is Lego Batman. I think I'm getting it for Christmas though so I'm not allowed to get it. I know it's super silly but I adore the Lego Star wars and Lego Indy games. And being a pretty big Bat-Fan I think this should be most excellent.

Re: The Gamers Thread: PS3, PC, Wii, 360... pick your poison!!
I heard L4D is one of the best multiplayer games around now, Didn't know there was any doubt to RE5 protagonist being Chris, Fallout 3 is going to be game of the year, Fable 2 is apparently more of an upgrade to fable 1 rather than a sequel but I'm not getting this from first hand experience. I think that's everything I had to add.Lady Pyro wrote:Been there and done that on two previous systems. I love it, honestly I do, but a third is overkill. Well I know we weren't sure at first, but it's probably been confirmed 1000X by now. I fell behind on my video game news once my internet decided to become a flickering demon of slow loads and random disconnections (which is why I haven't seen any of the newer trailers either).
I'm glad to hear that about L4D though because we've been playing Timesplitters for a bit too long and we're so ready for something new!

I've read interviews where he's been referred to as Chris by the developers so I'm pretty certain that it's concrete. Atleast I haven't heard anything about it being the most racist game of all time recently though.

Yeah I don't fully get that. Is it because the Zombies are Black (which kind of makes sense since it's in Africa isn't it?) or do they start throwing around racial slurs or something?Quest For Glory Fan wrote:I've read interviews where he's been referred to as Chris by the developers so I'm pretty certain that it's concrete. it's purely based on the fact that there are black zombies. Although no one said boo about RE4. I can see why someone would be upset about the premise of the game if they were uninformed though, there are groups out there that will do anything to smear videogames. (IE. Jack Thompson)

I'd play Chrono Trigger on an Atari 2600 if they made it!

Now THAT is a lot more interesting to me in a way. In the same way that an AGI version of KQ5 would be amazing.
I really need to do that someday after KQ2SCI.

Re: The Gamers Thread: PS3, PC, Wii, 360... pick your poison!!
I know, I'm totally flooding the off topic forum today but I have a quick question for anyone whose played the PSP Prince of Persia:
I've only seen ads for it so far, so why isn't it Prince of Persia: Insert subtitle here? Is it a remake/re-imagining of the first one? It looks FANTASTIC and my adoration for the first game has yet to die so I wouldn't mind checking it out once I steal one of my friend's PSP (when he comes home for the seasons I tend to get my hands on it for a while :P).

"Refer to sig" I'm not sure because I haven't played the side scrolly original but it's mediocre. The bosses/combat system don't transfer as nicely as they should from the console versions but it is a fun time sink for buses and the like.

Re: The Gamers Thread: PS3, PC, Wii, 360... pick your poison!!
Ah sorry! I meant Prince of Persia (with no subtitle) which apparently came out for X-Box 360, PS3 and PC. I don't know why I was so convinced when I saw the commercial that it was for PSP. Although I should have been suspicious about such good looking graphics on a hand held, I guess logic is just sometimes out of my reach.
Sorry for the confusion!
