Re: Random rants go here.
It IS silly!
Those people took something so harmless and made it into a huge fricken' deal!!!
PATHETIC! The apocalypse will not be summoned if gay people get married, but those idiots act like it will. Someone needs to smack them upside the head and run them through a very COLD shower. ACK! Disgraceful! BLEH!

Yeah, but that's the world of politics for ya. This issue is one of the fast-food products of the political world.

Heh. A few years ago they made gay and lesbian marriages legal over here. It was a big deal before it went through, and quite a bit of fighting and protesting, but since the day it went through... not a peep. Weird, eh.

Re: Random rants go here.
Same here, mostly. There were a couple of debates whether local clerks were free to determine whether to cooperate with the ceremony or not, regardless of their own personal beliefs, but other than that, not exactly a life-changing event.
In daily, everyday life, this whole thing has zero impact, even on people getting married themselves and my fire-and-brimstone-proof umbrella is still gathering dust in the attic. If anything, it's a great political boogeyman.

Re: Random rants go here.
When we legalized all that happened was Rosie O'Donnell brought a whole crew over on a cruise ship to get married (She didn't but some cruise members did). I admit, that was a bit frightening at first but after a week it was over and no one's said anything since.

Re: Random rants go here.
Well, Erps, it does have a little impact of course; lawful permission for a civil servant to discriminate between heterosexuals and homosexuals is considered a liberty loss by the gay community. It would be less discriminative if marriage civil servant peoples (*what's the proper English term?) could refuse to marry any couple, no matter on what ground; however, currently they can ONLY refuse to marry people on grounds of sexual orientation. No matter how rarely it happens, or how little municipalities allow it, it is a form of Christian heterosexism.
It's all just the idea of course, these troubles are so small in comparison with the USA.
Moving to more important random rants: I finally got round to installing my Acer Aspire One properly. It's so small (cause who needs a physical CDROM drive when you have ISOs), has 120 gb of harddisk space, and is just so portable!! This means I can play Qfg2VGA everyday for 3 hours!!! And look below at all the precious gems I got up and running. Qfg2=Qfg2VGA, KQ2=KQ2VGA, KQ3=KQ3VGA, of course, thanks to AGDI and IA!

Re: Random rants go here.
You see, now why can't people in America take your countries for example. Gay marriage will not unleash a plague on America but people act like it will and I just want to hit those people in the heads with a coconut!!! No seriously, I do.
It's sad, my best friend is gay and he is treated like a second class citizen and denied certain rights simply because of who he is attracted to. I mean, just spelling it out and saying it out loud, it sounds even MORE ridiculous and stupid this whole movement is!!! America is full of A LOT (not ALL) of close-minded babies, and it certainly doesn't help with Fred Phelps and Co. picketing funerals and spreading their hate speech. I hear some people are actually starting to buy the crap they spew. ACK! Shameful!

Nice desktop, Spikes. But the nitpicking must commence!
Woodruff and the Schnibble is NOT Goblins IV. That game is slated for February of next year.
That game is NOT KQ8. I don't care what your box cover says.
And finally, where are GK2, Conquests of Camelot, KQ1, EcoQuest I, and The Colonel's Bequest?

Re: Random rants go here.
I should have known better than to just put my desktop online, without double checking, where there's you around, Brains.
Let me defend myself.
Woodruff and the Schnibble is a long name, and I won't believe the Goblins 4 release until it is on the shelves. KQ8 is a shorter name than "King's Quest Mask of Eternity" as well. And I guess the naming is trivial, since there's not going to be a sequel. And if there was going to be a sequel , it probably would have been named KQ9.
GK2 would mean another 6 ISOs on my harddisk, and it already contains a lot of CDs. I mean, it is a very small computer, and already contains Goblins 3 CD, Woodruff and the Schnibble, the 7th Guest (x2), the 11th hour (x4), Gabriel Knight 1 CD, Gabriel Knight 3 (x3), Laura Bow CD, Quest for Glory Anthology, Quest for Glory 5 (x2), King's Quest Collection (x2), King's Quest 7, King's Quest 8, Full Throttle, Beneath a Steel Sky, FOTAQ, Loom CD, Willy Beamish CD, Sam & Max hit the Road, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island 1 CD, Simon the Sorcerer CD and Simon the Sorcerer CD II. That's 30 CDs! Well. I guess I could just squeeze it in, or store it on an SD card, or something. I would really like to know how GK2 runs on the Aspire One anyway.
Conquests of Camelot and The Colonel's Bequest I've yet to install. Both great games.
Unfortunately I uninstalled Kq1VGA just before it was taken down, so I simply don't have it right now.

Re: Random rants go here.
For the latter, that's a fair statement. For the former, not buying it; you've got "Conquests of the Longbow," "Adventures of Willy Beamish," and "Flight of the Amazon Queen" listed in full.Spikey wrote:Woodruff and the Schnibble is a long name, and I won't believe the Goblins 4 release until it is on the shelves.
TRIVIAL?! Fie on thee. And we've already established length is a petty conditional.Spikey wrote:KQ8 is a shorter name than "King's Quest Mask of Eternity" as well. Re: Random rants go here.
It IS the eigth KQ-game, whether you like it or not. Therefore, both KQ:MOE and KQVIII are references that get the message across.

Bah. All lies. It is deserving of non-numeric gaiden status only.

Opinion Alert!
Even though the game's not like its predecessors, it is a KQ-game and since it's the eigth game in the series, calling it KQVIII is not a falsity.

Heh-heh-heh. Yeah, I'm just yanking chains. However, the position of MoE being outside the numeric canon is not without its merits. Ken Williams mentioned on his site that Roberta wasn't really given the time to make the game as she wished and at least one other member of the team described it as a story set in the King's Quest universe without actually being a King's Quest.

ScummVM and DOSBox both have built-in screenshot shortcut keys. Alt-S for ScummVM...I can't remember the one for DOSBox off-hand.

I found I got bored of Spore after only two fully developed creatures. I dunno, The space part was frustrating because it was just too much going on at once for me, and the novelty really wore off after my pretty pink unicorns with wings took over the universe with the force of a thousand nuclear weapons.

Yea I know what you mean, I got to the space stage and after a few missions just left it and never went back. All the stages were so boring and repetitive after 20mins. The only stage I really liked was the first one the Cell phase.
All the other stages its just a standard rush tactic. Create an army and go round the world destroying the enemy.

Re: Random rants go here.
I enjoyed the creature phase, but there's so little to do once you've killed/befriended most of your neighbors. Collecting pieces are fun at first and building monsters, but the epics are impossible (for me) to take down. Even with three of the high ranking rouge monsters in my party, so really there's no fun there either.Angelus3K wrote:

The tribe phase was like hitting a brick wall and took A LOT of getting used too, and that's where the game lost my sister (a huge life sims addict). The controls were too different too quickly, and the explanations were confusing at best.
And yeah, Exactly what you said with the rush tactic for everything else. Although I admit blast people with the giant-dinosaur-that-is-my-religion was neat, it lost it's appeal quickly and I was glad to see it over.
I dunno, I just expected so much more. Which is a shame, it had such potential.
