Re: On the island *spoiler*
When I saw the name, it took me a minute to figure it out. Really.
Re: On the island *spoiler*
completely stuck here
I think that the first and the last i know exactly, but the 2, 3 and 4 are disaster, i tried hundred of combinations and still nothing. I can't understand this: they lie close by, look close around...it doesn't help me at all..and about 3 and 4 (both small and great)does it mean that one is small and another is big?or they are both small

You're overthinking it. Only one part of that poem is actually important.

Now I am stuck here as well. I understand the Seran's gate thing, but am confused which goes where. Love the QFG2 gag! Very funny.
Re: On the island *spoiler*
i finally solve it=))))that wasn't so difficult in fact...
Re: On the island *spoiler*
If you understood the "SERAN's" gate thing, you wouldn't be confused about which goes where...oversight1979 wrote:Now I am stuck here as well. I understand the Seran's gate thing, but am confused which goes where. Love the QFG2 gag! Very funny.

I loved it too. I wondered why Alex appeared in QFG2VGA.... It took me forever to get that Puzzle.Eld wrote:If you understood the "SERAN's" gate thing, you wouldn't be confused about which goes where...oversight1979 wrote:Now I am stuck here as well. Re: On the island *spoiler*
Ok. Then I don't understand the whoever's gate then. Some help would be nice. What a weird puzzle. A bunch of stones with different animals on them. All this just to get a treasure? If this was real life, I would tell the Pirates to get the treasure themselves. I guess the pirates are pretty dumb considering they can't get the treasure on their own. Could someone kindly give me a "Spoiler" for this. I don't think little hints will work for this puzzle. Not for me anyway.

Re: On the island *spoiler*
Fine. Spell out the name SERAN with the first letter of each of the animals names. There's a reason the name SERAN was all capitalised. You did read the map, right? For each screen?

Thankyou.
Re: On the island *spoiler*
Man, I kept fiddling around with this puzzle because I was hoping different incorrect combinations resulted in other kinds of deaths...
Re: On the island *spoiler*
There is one other combination that triggers a remark, though it's just a gag line that appeared in the original already.

Wait...so are my eyes playing tricks on me then? Because I swear I see the elephant, newt, owl and rabbit hidden in the foliage on that screen (and I was assuming that the animals hidden there were the ones that go on the gate, which is obviously wrong).

Re: On the island *spoiler*
On my first playthrough, I picked up 5 tiles and read the map... as the map says "what's in a name except for its sounds" and I didn't have tiles that could spell SERAN, I started trying to solve the puzzle's solution by trying to work out in my head what sound each animal makes and how they fit together to spell something.
...and THEN I clicked away from the gate and noticed additional tiles on the ground, picked them up and immediately realized the solution was my first instinct; only I hadn't picked up enough tiles at first.

Re: On the island *spoiler*
That was unfair, i spent hours trying to find a correspondence between the rhymes and the animals and all you have to do is ignoring them

Re: On the island *spoiler*
You shouldn't ignore the rhyme. There's an important clue in there. The trick is figuring out what's relevant and what isn't.

Re: On the island *spoiler*
Luckily, the second I saw it I flashed back to the awesome Cliffs of Logic from KQVI. SOAR!
..Or at least, I think that's how it went. X-)
The stepping stones gave me more trouble because it took me a little while to work out that the pattern needed to be repeated and also that brown didn't stand for the earth on the other side.
Reminded me fondly of a similar puzzle in KQ6, the catacomb floor. Thanks for tying in such similar puzzles for Alex's first adventure!

All the animals you need, plus some extras, should be on the ground before the gate, ready to be picked up.
Re: On the island *spoiler*
Imho it would be more correct with only 3 rhymes, the third in particular is the one who has bring me very far from the solution. All bring the player to think that in the first 3 rhymes there is the clue on how placing the stones, wrong.Erpy wrote:You shouldn't ignore the rhyme. There's an important clue in there. Re: On the island *spoiler*
There's definitely logic in that puzzle and its corresponding poem, you were simply unfortunate enough to use the wrong train of thought in that scene.

Re: On the island *spoiler*
Damn I'm surprised so many people had trouble with this. I got it immediately the only problem I had was that I smelt Seran as Saren before realizing what I had done wrong.
