Magic bowl?
How do I put water into the magic bowl so I can get the sweet sweet delicious savoury stew. I 've tried a bunch of rivers as well as the bucket filled with water. please help me get my dark rich and chunky stew mmmmmmmmmmm stew, God please give me some stew

Instant stew. Just add magic.
No water is needed. Just say the magic word on the bowl, and voilà! Instant stew.
Carrots are Nature's toothbrush; celery, its floss. The Shin Sen Gumi motto: Sin, Swift, Slay.

Yep.
To be more specific, click the bowl on yourself after looking at it (to find out what the word is).

It confuses me that people try to fill the bowl with water. This isn't done in any version. In both the AGI version and the SCI one, you look at the bowl to find out what the word is and then simply type that word to get the stew. You never have to be on a water screen for it to work. Oh, well...

It's the clicking on yourself
It's likely the "clicking the bowl on yourself" that most people find confusing. It stumped me for a short bit, and I've played through just about all of Sierra's "clickies". As someone mentioned a while ago, it might make things easier on people if there was a "manipulate" icon in the inventory, so you could directly try to manipulate an object without having to go back to the main screen and click it on yourself.

IMHO, of course.

Re: It's the clicking on yourself
I'd like to implement a "manipulate" icon into the inventory box.. the only problem is that the inventory box in AGS is not yet customizable. So we're stuck with the standard one for the time being, I'm afraid.

Re: Magic bowl?
Actually in the 16 colour version (looked like Police Quest 2 Graphics) you had to fill the bowl with water, or at least thats how I did it, maybe you could also talk to the bowl as well. Regardless I was able to get the sweet sweet stew and I happily ate in front of the Lumber Jack's dying wife.

Re: Magic bowl?
Well if anyone is like me and had never played any version of KQ1 before, it makes sense to try to fill it with water. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Hmmm...
I tested it in both versions and saying simply "fill" in either one, on a non-water screen, worked. It's like the magic amulet in KQ2; you just type the activation word and the magic does its stuff.

Maybe it should notice when you try to fill the bowl with water and tell you that that's the wrong approach...

Maybe. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)"> I just tried water first because you have to get magic water in QG1. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

Re: Hmmm...
Yes, but it specified that water was needed for the Dispel potion. No one said that water was needed for the stew. Besides, it's so thick, it's like there isn't any in it.
Carrots are Nature's toothbrush; celery, its floss. The Shin Sen Gumi motto: Sin, Swift, Slay.
