I was just kidding with you Erpy...
I really hope that Tierra does do something with the results. It seems the opinion of the other fans is the same as mine!

I just can't hold it and imagine KQ3VGA! Tom probably will compose something scary for that screen, in which Alex is led to the mountain's foot

. A scary tune should take place when Alex. is in that screen - at night! Oh oh oh. This would be great.

Just a general comment. This is the most posted on thread, but it is not the oldest. The QFG2VGA Communication Poll outdates this one by about five months, and it is still on the first page as well.

The communication poll has been a sticky until we unstuck it a few months back.

I seem to recall that it sunk after you did that. Maybe not. I'm having memory problems lately. Really bad ones. Maybe it was the QFG one about the hero's outfit. But I seem to recall that it sank, and then resurfaced as soon KQ2 was finished. Because QFG2 was next.

I realize this poll is basically over with.. but seeing how I just discovered Tierra recently, I'd like to add my two cents.
My vote is Black Cauldron all the way!
The story here is awesome, and could use for some updating. I forsee the Tierra team growing shortly after QFGII's completion, and I bet they'll be ready to handle a few more projects at a time. -(totally speculation on my part)
~Unfortunately, Black Cauldron could have more problems.. isn't it a Disney property??

Yeah, TBC is Disney property and even Sierra is no longer allowed to sell the game. (or even give it away)
And expecting a company who lobbies for outragous copyright laws to be forgiving towards fangames? I think not.

Even Sierra cannot sell Black Cauldron anymore? They cannot even give it away for free?:eek
That is weird...Anyway, Al Lowe has posted a download of the entire game in his website. I wonder if that is legal?:rolleyes

Did you ask them? Have you ever emailed them? I don't think they would mind if a game, made by fans for non-profitable attentions would concern them. They should be asked.

I doubt it. They actually have people going out to make sure there are no mickey mouse posters in daycares. Well, if you do have one, you have to pay Disney for it. They're really up tight about it.

FYI, Vildern, Disney is one of the companies who is lobbying for stricter copyright laws in the USA. That pretty much gives me an accurate image of their stance on copyright issues.
As for my remark, a Sierra representative mentioned it on the official Sierra forums once. The rights transferred back to Disney pretty soon after the game's release. Still, if you want to verify my words yourself;
Here's the link. You're pretty lucky that the topic still exists since most topics on the Sierra forums disappear after a couple of weeks.

OK, but it doesn't make sense. That old game! They won't earn a penny out of it, and we (meaning you, of course) as well. Just out of curiosity, do you think they would reply to an email of a sweet little boy (16.5), who would ask them politely to give us (meaning you, again) a way to make a remake, without getting sued ... or they'll just laugh evilly?

The company you're talking about sent lawyers to a kindergarten to force the owners to get those home-made (and thus unauthorized) pictures of Mickey and Donald off the wall. (there must have been at least ONE cute kid in there)
Does that answer your question?

Mosy likely their response will be something in between. Whether or not someone else makes money off it is not the issue. They don't want anyone else to use it if they (Disney) are not making money from it.

You shall now call me: "vild” (like: wild). I shall put my adventure cap on, and tomorrow I shall email them a long and detailed email. I can be very persuasive. I believe that in a day or two they shall write back. I shall inform you, and tell you what is their answer. If there is one guy there with common sense - they would say: Yes, please DO remake this old game"
BTW, as far as I know, even the movie was not unsuccessful. So, this is not even a major project of theirs.

Well, OK. Best of luck and Godspeed. Let us know how it turns out (although I think I can guess).

Here's my 3.1415927 cents: as said before I'd love to see Black Cauldron, though I have no expectations to see it for the reasons mentioned at least three seperate times in this thread. Wish list of forever I guess. Side note: Would it be possible to do a remake of the game not based on the movie? There were certainly many (good, IMO) liberties taken with the KQII remake, why not with TBC as well? There's a whole series of books to draw from artistically, and I'm sure the artists at Tierra are up to the task. This should avoid most claims Disney could make against it, the question then remains: what would Alexander think of it?
Codename Iceman would also be nice, since it's far less well-known and was a good game, deserving of remake-attention.
However, after playing KQII Remake, I'd really love to see a remake of KQIII. The King's Quest series was never my favourite, but the Tierra teams has changed my mind in most regards on that.
Those are my top picks. Take it how you will.

It is part of a series of books by Lloyd Alexander.
The Prydain series I think -> read them years and years and years ago.
All I remember is that I enjoyed them and some kind of ape climbed into the black cauldron...

I remember reading that series many, many years ago. I don't remember a single thing about them, except that the girl had a bauble, which she wouldn't let the boy touch. I only remember that because I thought that "bauble" was a strange word.

It's actually quite common that girls don't allow boys to touch their baubles. At least not until they get to know them a little better.
(sorry, it's fairly late at my place)
