Hi everyone. Welcome to the new forum and (for now) the only place to get hints and tips for our new release: King's Quest 2: Romancing the Stones.
Seeing that so many things in the game are new, I'd like to request to be very careful with spoilers. Don't post spoilers unless the person needing help is literally begging for it.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to promote our digital music pack. As you probably know, it's quite big, but well worth the download. Seeing that it's also able to avoid certain MIDI-related bugs in the game (such as the music being too soft or pitching), we're HEAVILY encouraging everyone with enough patience (or a fast connection) to download it.

Also, please be sure to post any bugs, spelling/grammar errors, what have you, in the "Technical and Bugs" forum, in the appropriate threads.
But first check the KQ2 technical
FAQ at the top of the "Technical and Bugs" forum before posting anything there. The FAQ contains possible solutions to the most common problems found in KQ2VGA. Please bother to check it out, cause it's there for a reason!
Don't post bugs etc. in this forum as it makes things difficult to locate. Thanks.

I just want to say that you guys did a great job. The story was awesome. What was your inspiration for the plot and characters? Were you inspired by KQ9?

Nope, KQ2+ had nothing to do with the KQ9-project. Wookie just created an enhanced intro and ending and then decided to fill up the spaces in between. (I make it sound more simple than it seems to be)<br><br><!--EZCODE IMAGE START--><img src="

Congratulations to the Tierra team!!! You did an excellent work in KQ1. I just downloaded KQ2 the other day and from what I've been experiencing from playing it, it looks to be better than KQ1. The additional plots are great. It still has the same feel as the original KQ series. Keep up the good work! <p></p><i></i>

I must say that being atheist myself, I felt conflicted with religion in King's Quest 2, in all versions to date. I hear a third version of the King's Quest 2 remake is in thw works. I have some suggestions. Instead of religion being involved, atheist alternatives could be employed. The dawrf can steal anything, even objects which are needed to complete the game. You can steal from the dwarf.

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but just because you are an atheist, doesn't mean religion doesn't exist elsewhere. You have your beliefs, others have theirs. Religions (or in your case, lack thereof) DO conflict with each other, but that's life. Religion is a BIG part of people's lives, so it's almost foolish to leave it out of the KQ series entirely.

You mentioned a third version of the KQ2 remake...where did you hear about that? KQ2VGA v2.0 is Tierra's final version of the game. Are you perhaps thinking of KQ1VGA v3.0?

Version 2.0, which came out in april, is the final version. There won't be a future version of the game.<br><br>I don't see how anyone can have a problem with the fact that there was a church in Kolyma, since it had an important role in the story and wasn't just there for the sake of including something religious. I know the AGDs wouldn't put in something religion-based if it didn't have some other purpose in the game as well.<br><br><!--EZCODE IMAGE START--><img src="

Okay. My bad. I'm glad I have the final version. I just feel that you could have the storyline without involving church or religion. Especially after a sex abuse scandal in the church, and the fact that our laws are not based on religion, Graham going into the church was uncomfortable to me. If I could change one thing about the game, it would be to secularize it. Maybe the steak and mallet would be sufficient for Dracula. I had a problem with Gabriel Knight 3 because it included religion. I think religion is a private matter, and that if a gameplayer wishes to avoid religion, maybe an atheist version is in order. I'm just saying that I find the cross to be offensive and a hate symbol akin to the swatstika. I would of course never ever step inside a church, so it was a bit strange for me. I know 2.0 is the final version. I'm just giving some feedback. <p></p><i></i>

It's a pity you felt uncomfortable about it, because we didn't include the church for any other reason than to flesh out the role of the monestary from the original. Taking away the church for the sole sake of avoiding stepping on atheist's toes would be crippling the storyline, IMHO, and for no real reason at that, as I'm certain there are biblethumpers out there who would also find wrong things with the church-part and ask them to be changed. (overly religious people might get angry, for example, about the fact that the player loses points for donating a jewel to the church instead of instantly getting a high score)<br><br>I'm not trying to bash your beliefs, but I think that when reading/playing a medieval story, the most realistic thing to do would be to accept the historical fact that there were churches in the middle ages and that their influence was fairly big. Seeing everything remotely related to religion (like a crucifix-shaped key) as evil and only suited for religious eyes eventually leads to making things more complicated than they need to be.<br><br>And the game IS an atheïst version (atheïst meaning non-religious, not anti-religious), since it's not trying to press any religious ideas on the player. The vampire is no longer scared of the cross like in the original, the cross has an atheïst purpose now. Adding a church while there wasn't one in the original, would be religious. Removing a church despite it had a role in the original would be anti-religious. Keeping the church in and maintaining a neutral view on the whole thing seems most suitable for the atheïstic view. <br><br><!--EZCODE IMAGE START--><img src="
http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashs ... <!--EZCODE IMAGE END--><br><br>P.s: I don't think those pedophilic priests involved in scandals did what they did because they were religious. They did it because they had pedophilic tendancies. Instead of priests, it could have been teachers. <p></p><i>Edited by: <A HREF=

Evan,<br><br>Could you clarify how you define religion? Do you see it as an organized movement with established unified beliefs? Is it a disparate notion of belief in deity and/or deities? Is it simply a belief in the supernatural, which could include animism? Is it something else? Before telling us how offensive you find religion to be, perhaps you could describe what you perceive it is. <p></p><i></i>

You should keep all your questions in the same thread... it's easier on you to find the answers, and it's easier on us to answer them. This forum will only hold so many threads, and when you create a new one, it pushes an old one off and its lost forever. <p></p><i></i>

Denis, great that you're making the effort! <!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :) --><img src=

From what I have seen great game. And in fact if people would indeed read history you would see or read that religion is very important from a historic point of view.

The game is very well done, and certainly a far cry from the original. However, except for those really meaningless characters in it as Batman, and the other of the non speaking man up at the enchanters cave that really play no role in the actual game. It appears that there is a loss of the real characters in the game, and especially when you consider at the wedding there is certainly no sign of the Pegasus that played a crucial role in the game, but evidently not as important as Batman that is really meaningless to the game, and in my opinion a waste of time and effort to create this segment. Naturally they couldn't give some sort of credit to the SeaHorse either, but at least that is understandable since it lives in the water. Sort of misplaced values in my opinion, and game or not certain main characters deserve some credit, and even the snotty libraian, and the thief, and would be killer dwarf were recognized at the wedding, but alas, not the Pegasus without which there would be a dead end to the game.

So you're saying that you were put off because the disciple of the Cloud was not at the wedding?
