Trapped in Water bug!! (STILL IN GAME)

#1 Post by mikeyboy775 » Wed Feb 05, 2003 9:12 pm

OK since no one addressed my message before, I thought I'd repost it since I was able to get a copy of KQ2VGA Version 1.1. The Error is STILL in there where if you swim in ocean water to get around the the cliff along the beach, you get stuck and it will keep saying there is cliff stopping you from going right. Please address and give me a reply, because I don't like knowing about bugs and having them not fixed. I'm just trying to help. If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about please reply! Thanks.

Umm...what EXACTLY are you trying to do? There's no need to swim in any of those ocean screens. Once you reach the beach with the hill and cliffs to the north, you can't go north any further.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nashb ...

Yes I am talking about the beach on the far left in the game where there is that log and everything. It right off of where you start the game. I know you don't need anything when you swim in the water (besides the whole Sharkee incident) but I was just trying to go left of the impassiable beach with the rocks(where you can't go north) head up 2 screens then go back east on to main land as a shortcut. But when you try to perform this it says the cliff is blocking you. You are then trapped in a permanent lock of this no matter how many times you head down screen. You will still get the cliff message. I hope this helps!

Ok, I tried to replicate this following your instructions, but couldn't manage to reproduce the bug.

I'm a little unclear on exactly which beach screen you're starting to swim from and which directions (N,E,S, W) exactly you're trying to go.

If anyone else can reproduce it, please let me know. Thanks.

Oops, sorry

Ok I'm sorry this really isn't a bug I guess, it just gets really tricky to get back to land if your naive and don't know that you don't need anything in water. I'd recommend make the time longer before you drown so you don't have to go in the water, find out there's nothing there, try to get back to land and drown. That's my recommendation at least... Sorry again.

I agree. At least give a warning message that says "There's nothing out there but drowning..." something clear so we don't die and then realize that we've been so into the game we haven't saved for an hour. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> How about a message that says "If we programmed anything out in the sea, the game would crash everytime it ran..." Then we'd remember to save right at that point--b4 we were too far out to drown. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/wink.gif ALT=";)">

This reminds me of Sponge Factory's first game. Hic bill 1. In the second screen of the game, it simply says "An ocean stands between you and the other side." That's it. There's no motive to cross the ocean other than the fact that it exists.

----------
Sponge Factory

But that sounds like a challenge to me...Especially the 2nd+ time you play the game. Surely you explored the ocean after reading that?

It is hilarous just watching Graham swim so fast on a high game speed! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":\">
