Well maybe I will use the midi sounds instead of mp3 music from now on in the future to cut more of the size down.
That demo was the last demo of the Lsl3vga. Strange that weird little spanish goon is gone now and I am not going to guess why that happened suddenly.
JPG is not allowed by AGS.
GIF can be used, i had no problem importing backgrounds of various bit colors in GIF format (which were BMPs before conversion).
Which bmp2gif converter are u using ? What exactly is the problem you have when you import a gif ?
Music can be in a separate file, so that people with 56k can avoid download music and focus on the graphics/puzzles
What is the size of your average BMP ? What color depth are you using ?
Bare in mind that color depth plays important role in the file length.
A BMP which is 105 KB in 16 bit color, reaches 157KB in 24 bit color
and 210KB in 32 bit color!!!! Use 16 bit color, and personally i would suggest using GIF with 8 bit color. The same file of the previous example
in GIF-256 colors, weights only 40KB!!! (1/7th !!)
This is the best for demo versions and let people have a good taste without spending much time in downloading.
Later on
when you complete the game, you can add the 16 bit color depth pictures
