How to play in-game music

#1 Post by TheFatherInLaw » Mon Feb 17, 2003 1:15 am

I've heard of a way one can be able to play the music used in KQ2+VGA via an AGS player or something without separate tracks from Quest Studios. How can I do this? There are a few tracks I'd rather like to hear.

Thanks!

If you put the music.vox file into a separate directory and create a small AGS-project, you can play the tunes inside the vox-file with the function "playmusic(int musicnumber)".

You'll only need a minimum of AGS-knowledge to create such a player.

Main issues:

- Not all numbers are occupied by tunes, so you'll do a lot of searching.

- The ogg-files from QS have higher quality.

<img src="http://httpd.chello.nl/c.vanempel/Nasht ...

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub57.ezboard.com/broyalquestfor ... ms>Erpy at: 2/16/03 9:52:50 pm

Thanks! With the list of track names seen at QuestStudios, I'm set!

Now all I need is for KQ1VGA 3.0 to come out...

Keep in mind, as Erpy pointed out, the game's music is encoded at only 80 kbps, as compared to the individual song files posted at Quest Studios, which average twice that rate.

With the SONG LIST posted at <a href="http://www.queststudios.com/quest/kq2rt ... you should be able to easily play the majority of songs in the game. The SONG LIST doesn't list ALL of them, though...but most are there.
