The Future

#351 Post by Brainiac » Sat Oct 30, 2004 5:14 am

Good luck. To all of you.

As usual, my words fail me, so I offer this instead.

Behold the mother with her newborn child!
An icon of a hope that never dies.
Death may label all we cherish lies,
Yet this love lies too deep to be defiled.
We clear an inner field where fate has smiled,
Letting play the pleasures of surmise,
Holding back all contrary replies,
As though our thoughts might turn the winters mild.
Despite the well-known travesties of time,
Each time a child is born we dream anew,
For only thus our losses are regained.
Though we must share the destiny of slime,
No passion in our palette is more true
Than that which cradles innocence unstained.

<raises a glass in a toast>

To the future! :)

sorry about my last post. Again I apoligize. I sincerely hope for the best and this may be my first serious post of the 400 or so I've made. ahh crap now I'm being emotional way to go. So keep a few words in mind "working together as a team = success" That's my personal motto and it may not apply much here but when raising a child it may just become your motto as well. Now that I'm done trying to sell myself out I'd just like to say again Good Luck, Best Wishes, and make good choices

Edit: Gone

QfGfan, maybe you shouldn't try to be funny in every post. In the last few posts you've been making here, you only managed to be offensive in your humor.

A good advice if there ever was one. Unless you want people to start calling you the Brentmeister General.

Thanks guys (and gals)!!

Katherine Breanna Martin was born 30/10/04 @ 11:35am weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces. :cry

As mentioned in my previous post, I and Debs mam Eleanor left for the hospital at 5:30am as Deb had been having contractions since 1am and they had just started getting really bad.

We arrived at the hospital as Deb was having a bath to try and soothe the pains she had. We then went into the delivery room and she was given Gas and Air to help with the pains while screams of delivering mothers echoed throughout the corridors.

Hours passed and the contractions grew more painful, but never once did she raise her voice because of the pain, more hours passed Debs was exhausted as was I standing for hours my hand being crushed every couple of minutes!!

More hours passed and Deb was in agony still not shouting or letting a cry of pain escape her...

11:35 am struck the baby was out Deb gave a small shout of OH MY GOD!! then had to turn over and push out the placenta which gushed out a few minutes later.

But there was a problem there was blood everywhere, Deb had been torn by the delivery of the baby and had to be put on a drip and monitored closely, she is fine now and is being kept in with the baby (which is fine) to be monitored.

I am still in a state of shock by the whole thing... for some reason when I first saw the baby it finally kicked in that "Holy Crap! Its a baby" even now I keep getting flash back type feelings along the lines of "Oh my god I have a baby! What the hell do I do???"

Its very scary and very emotional.

Deb and Katherine are fine and are at the the hospital now, I am home trying not to cry (again) and missing them both madly!

I didnt cry when the baby was born, I had to be strong for Deb but afterwards when I went outside to phone my parents I couldnt help it (then again when I ranf my sister.)

I dont know what to do... just be all I can be really a good (future) husband to Deb and a good father for Katherine, I dont know how... I'm still learning how to hold her while supporting her head etc but I can feed and burp her and put her dummy in her mouth to make her quiet lol

I guess I'll get better with experiance, I just want the best for my child and to be there when she and Deb need me.

Well thats enough ranting from me, here's the pics you've all been waiting for, thanks for all your thoughts throughout the 9 months, its whats got us through it.

Thanks

Katherine just born, in Debs arms

Another shot of Katherine and Deb

Me holding Katherine

Me giving Katherine her first feed

Thanks again everyone. Deb should hopefully be home tomorrow with Kate :)

EDIT: The woman in the pics is Debs mum Eleanor.

Congrats! Congrats! Congrats!

Good luck on your fatherhood status! I'm pretty sure everyone here, posting or not posting, gives their support to you and your new family.

Come to think of it, wouldn't she be the newest addition to the AGDI forum family?

i almost cried as i read this post ... that's so wonderful. Congratilations to both you and Deb, Chris.

And Katharine is beautiful. I love in the picture of you feeding her how she's got one eye open, looking at the camera ... almost like she's saying, "what are you looking at?"

you are both going to be wonderful parents.

great, here come the waterworks ... i'm such a woman.

Congratulations! Sorry I couldn't be there when the baby was born to help name her, but I was away from home most of the day.

So it was a girl after all this time. :eek She is very cute girl.

Congratulation to both of you (again). I know this is propably my fourth time I say that word but she is born now to this earth and this was my first time I say that after your daugther is finally now born.

This great news reminds me on something else....oh yeah...someone ows me money because I won the bet wish will come out first QG2VGA or the baby muwhahahaha.

What!?! Did I forgot to tell you that? Oh well it's ok Nobody needs to pay me anything then. My dad won 100.000kr in Icelendic Joker lottery so this is for sure the most wonderful day for all of us now.

Everything is so new and fresh here. I wish you Debby and Chris the best future with the baby. I wish I could be brave like you when it is my time to have a baby. But I'm still not ready for that because I'm still single poor and living on *Hotel mom* now hehehe. :lol

Congratulations Chris, Deb, and especially Katherine! :D :cry :eek I'm so ecstatic for all of you! This has got to be without a doubt the best and most moving thread in the history of forums. Somebody should put it in some forum hall of fame so future generations can see it too.

Congratulations again to all of you, and don't worry Chris and Deb, as long as you always keep the love for your daughter that you both are feeling right now, and always show her that love, you'll both make fine parents. :) ;)

A few words

#372 Post by Brainiac » Sun Oct 31, 2004 2:22 am

I already congratulated you over at EA, but I'll say it again over here.

Congrats and I wish you all only the best in the future. I still can't really find the right words for something momentous like this, so I'll just stick with the poem that I posted before.

Welcome to the world, Katherine; I'll let my grandmother know you have her name! :D
