MS paint not good enough
I need a help finding a good art program for making graphics for my AGS game. If any one can recommend a good program fore 2D work pleas let me know.
The GIMP is good, once you get the hang of it... and it's free

If you want to pay for a paint program though, there's Adobe Photoshop, Paintshop Pro, Corel Photo-paint, etc. But Gimp can do the same sort of things.

I second fizzi in that the gimp is pretty good, free and open software.
It is also easy to write an export plugin. I fyou write your own engine this might come in handy. I wrote one for mine that allows me to save from the gimp and read it in my program which shows it on the screen including layer alpha transparency (and whatever I might come up with).
